EUL’s 5th Psychology Days
European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Psychology organized several events under the frame work of “5th Psychology Days”. The aim of the 5th Psychology days was enhancing the academic knowledge accumulation of the students as well as showing how an effective accumulation of knowledge can be presented when the science of psychology leagues together with different disciplines and sciences persons working in different fields.
Dean of EUL Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Saadettin Yıldız pointed out that psychology is a good source for other disciplines and that it gives a better meaning by showing the psychological sub-structures of the works both art and literature.
Academic Member of EUL Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karakartal touched upon the positive effect of island on artists and the evolution of the works of art in the island psychology.
Furthermore, Head of Psychology Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zihniye Okray evaluated the subjects of love, loss, and death included in the poem of Osman Fahri with a psychological point of view and gave examples of the interdisciplinary usage of Psychology Science.
On the second day of the event, academic member of the Psychology Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Sultan Okumuşoğlu Şehitoğlu, Dr. Cemaliye Direktör, Assist. Prof. Dr. Çağay Dürü, Head of Turkish Language and Literature Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazım Muradov gave speeches. Speeches and discussions were about how arts can be used in psychological disorders, how a life of a concept can be approached like a novel, the fact that songs occur due to a social memory and it can mean different things to the member of that particular society. In addition, the fact that literature, folk literature, painting, sculpture and other fields of art are the reflection of the collective unconscious ıf an artist.
