29 projects were implemented by EUL Faculty of Education students
European University of Lefke (EUL) Turkish Language Teaching and Special Education Teaching Department students carried out a series of activities under the leadership of faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Figen Yaman Lesinger within the scope of the “Community Service Practices” course. As part of the activities, students carried out detailed presentations on social responsibility projects.
Students carried out community service practices
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Figen Yaman Lesinger expressed the following in her statement about the activity and the scope of the course: Students have learned that they can analyse society in the most detailed way after detailed training on social analysis (developing understanding about the structure, needs, and problems of society), social responsibility and ethics (responsible behaviours in society, ethical values, and social responsibility concepts), change and development in society (strategies, projects, and practices for positive changes and development in society), and community participation and leadership (the importance of active participation in society and leadership skills). While community service practice courses generally aim to enable students to do practical work in the community, develop sensitivity to social problems, and produce solutions, such courses are usually supported by theoretical course materials, field studies, internships, or community service projects.
Lesinger emphasised that in this way, students will have the opportunity to experience the course content in practice by contributing to society and said that the feedback received from the students at the end of the semester is the greatest value and that the most important thing is that the students are proud of the students for being able to touch the hearts of the society they live in and that a total of 29 projects have been implemented within the scope of these activities.
Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Nergüz Bulut Serin, who attended the presentation, stated that she was very happy with the services provided by the students and expressed her thanks to the course instructor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Figen yaman Lesinger.
